- Never apply plastic over rust or holes. Any time you apply body filler, only spread on good clean metal
- Grind metal with a 16 grit grinding disc.
- Mix body plastic. Apply thin first coat.
- Then apply a second coat. Put it on good and tight. don't just flop it on. Apply with some pressure to get it on real tight.
- let it set up, then use a cheese grader.
- After using the cheese grader (to cut down high spots) let it set up until it is completely hard.
- Use a board file with a 40 grit paper.
- If low spots are found apply more filler. Only apply filler to low spots found not the entire area.
- Apply polyester putty to fill scratches. ( before you do that any pits or holes found in the body plastic that was applied, take a pocket knife and clean out the hole . Blow the whole area with air.
- Make sure you apply the polyester putty to the complete area. when you apply the putty make sure you put it down good and tight, just as you did the body filler. Apply thin layers.
- Smooth it all out as you apply before it sets up.
- When the polyester putty completely dries, use a board file 80 grit paper. Don't do much sanding with the 80 grit. Just enough to remove and get down smooth.
- Then use 180 grit paper and board file to take out the 80 grit scratches. This 180 grit will get it smooth for primer then paint.
